Dr. Marco J. Cabrerizo joins the EFPU as an Associate Researcher to work on the effects of global change on plankton from Patagonian coastal environments.
While his permanent position is at the University of Granada (Spain), he has been conducting research activities at the EFPU since 2013, both as part of his doctoral project and as part of the EFPU’s collaborative projects groups.
In the second half of 2023, Marco conducted experiments at the EFPU to evaluate the effects of heat waves on phytoplankton, as well as to determine the impact of different local components (terrigenous material, volcanic ash and kaolinite) that alter optical conditions of the marine environment, especially during extreme rain and wind events, which affect primary productivity in Patagonian coastal areas.
