Pollution in aquatic environments

Human activities deeply affect aquatic ecosystems.

Garbage dump near urban areas in Patagonia. Part of this garbage ends in the aquatic systems.

In this work we analyzed different types of anthropogenic pollution, using as examples some particular ecosystems, including Patagonian coastal areas. The main types of environmental problems that we included in this work are the discharge of effluents, increases in terrigenous materials and nutrients, heavy metals, oil spills and plastic pollution.
