Dra. Anastazia T. Banaszak, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Mexico

Dr. Banaszak visited us four times between 2011 and 2019. With Dr. Banaszak we studied the combined effects of global change variables on phytoplankton of the Patagonian region (e.g., ultraviolet radiation, temperature) and, more recently, we focused on those related to vertical mixing produced by wind. As a latitudinal comparison, we also carried out studies simulating global change scenarios in tropical environments of Mexico, both marine and freshwater.

The work carried out by Dr. Banaszak at EFPU was financed by Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Productiva (Argentina) / CONACyT (Mexico), Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) – CONACyT, Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y Tecnológica (ANPCyT) and Fundación Playa Unión.
