During summer, Dr. José Bonomi Barufi, a specialist in photobiology and ecophysiology of algae from the Universidad Federal de Santa Catarina (Florianópolis, Brazil) visited us at the EFPU.
During his stay, we carried out experiments both in the laboratory and in the field in which we evaluated the effects of temperature fluctuations (due to the tides) on the trophic behavior of intertidal crustaceans (the amphipod Ampithoe valida) that feed on the macroalgae Ulva rigida, Pyropia columbina and Rhodymenia coralina.
Dr. Bonomi Barufi’s stay was funded by CAPES, within the CAPES-PRINT Program.
