From the beginning of June (and until beginning of September), Dr. Macarena Valiñas, researcher at EFPU-CONICET, is in the United States under a Fulbright-MED Scholarship for Argentine researchers. Macarena is working in collaboration with researchers at the Global Change Limnology Laboratory, led by Dr. Craig Williamson of the University of Miami. The experiments of this project are being carried out in different lakes of Pennsylvania (Lakes Lacawac and Giles) and the main objective of these experiments is to evaluate the effects of the changes in the regimes of solar radiation due to the browning of the water (this later associated to global change) in the trophic interactions of the phyto and zooplankton communities of the region.
